It is in the formative of years their lives that children easily understand and pick up lessons that come their way. To help them live life and embrace each moment with utmost joy and positivity, why not engage them in an activity that is bound to maintain their overall physical and psychological well-being. Introduce them to one of the world’s most ancient techniques of mastering the art of discipline and determination- Martial Arts.

While most people are under the impression that Martial Arts is only a technique for self-defense there are a number of other benefits apart from that and being physically fit that it has to offer, especially for children.

  • ENCOURAGES PHYSICAL ACTIVITY – Limiting screen time is a great idea when it comes to getting kids off the couch and encouraging them to be more active, but it only goes so far. Enrolling an inactive child in such a physically demanding pastime not only discourages the sedentary lifestyle they may be used to, but also gives them an enjoyable activity that inspires them to keep moving.
  • DEVELOPS FOCUS AND ABILITY TO LISTEN- Being a child it is very difficult to focus on one thing at a time. With a short span of attention a child’s mind tends to waver every now and then. Fixing the focus issue at this stage is very important. Being trained under a professional Martial arts teacher will help your child to focus on the task at hand while improving their listening and reaction skills at the same time. This will further enhance their ability to stay focused, will aid them in excelling at physical activity and will also make them astute listeners, both at home and school.
  • PERFECTS POSTURE AND BALANCE- Poor posture leads to cramped organs, improper breathing, and a whole host of other unhealthy bodily expressions. For many 3-6 year olds, one of the skillsets that is often overlooked, but needs constant work and attention is balance and posture, basic skills necessary for almost any activity. However taking up martial arts as a child helps to build strong balance, healthy postures and balanced movement through the use of age appropriate forms and drills that help children to improve fundamental skills.
  • BUILDS PHYSICAL FITNESS AND DRIVES HEALTHY LIVING- With age it becomes more difficult for children to remain physically fit. While physical fitness activities could be a rather fun and rewarding experience, it also instills in them the benefits of good eating. Being physically fit is a necessity and getting your child to understand the importance of being healthy and physically fit at an early age is the most wonderful thing to happen.
  • IMPROVES CO ORDINATION AND MOTOR SKILLS- Through certain martial arts programs fine tuning of your child’s motor skills and physical coordination is a great possibility. These programs help to develop your child’s cardiovascular system, their muscular strength, and will create a general kind of body awareness which can only be gained from a whole body method of Martial Arts training. This will make your child less susceptible to injuries, and be much more aware of their body and how to use it correctly.
  • BUILDS SELF ESTEEM AND CONFIDENCE- It is with consistent positive verbal reinforcement during a training program, that there is an improvement in a child’s self-esteem and also gives them scope to learn how to feel good about themselves.
  • TEACHES THEM THE IMPORTANCE OF THE WORD RESPECT- One of the most important words in martial arts is respect. At the training program children are taught to respect their instructors, each other, and most of all, themselves. Here they are taught lesson for life like it’s not just about winning. This is what will keep them a notch higher than others in today’s society where respect is missing facet.
  • AIDS IN SOCIAL SKILLS AND FRIENDSHIP- Being in a martial arts program young children make new friends, while teaching them the concepts of sharing, compassion, and conflict resolution.
  • IMPROVEMENT IN ALL AREAS OF LIFE– The benefits of martial arts training don’t end in the dojo. The boost in confidence, increased fitness level and new cooperation skills will also help your child navigate the academic and social aspects of school, affect his behavior at home and have an all-around good influence on them are they enter adulthood.
  • EFFECTIVE WEIGHT CONTROL-The warm up and practice comprise the bulk of the time, and for that time your child will be constantly on the go – stretching, crunches, takedowns, grappling, punches and kicks. The workout each child gets will not only assist in the natural development of his or her muscles but also help them build stronger Cardio-Vascular systems.

Ponder no more and enroll your child in a training program today.

When the going gets tough the tough has got to get going!
